Aug 18/18: Gatineau – One Rider; 94 Kms; 3 Hrs, 40; 1600 metres

Aug 18/18: Stinsons – Four Riders; 111 Kms; 3 Hrs, 40; 650 Metres

Hello there –

Well, a mixed bag this morning, with the two ride options splitting the group. No issues, however, since everyone has to find what works for them. In future though I’ll ask for a show of hands regarding the remote starts since I waited until 6:55 am before leaving P3 this morning, after having been there at 6:15. I get it that schedules are fluid and things change and that not everyone knows his plans until the last-minute.

Okay, I don’t really have a lot to say. I’m a bit like “her majesty (who) is a very nice girl.” But, I could go on, if pressed, about Mr Doug Ford and his social, christian conservative cycling friends, his cancellation of the opioid centres, his cancellation of the carbon tax, the potential ruination of the environment, his cancellation of sex education, and his buck a beer programme – but really does that man, given his girth, need cheaper beer. I question whether he could make class representative to the Student Council at high school. Class clown, maybe. But, there he is, Premier of the largest province in Canada. There is no accounting for taste. How many see Mr Ford as a nonpareil in policy and legislative matters? A paragon of virtue, no doubt, for the nation’s children to emulate.

Enough – unfortunately, we have four years of his ‘rule’ yet.

Okay, several of the regulars are away or not available this weekend. Also, tomorrow, there are two events to choose from. A couple of us are riding the TDB, while others have chosen the MEC ride from Carp. And, some will ride from Stinsons on Sunday. So, there are lots of options. I hope one of these suits you.

Okay, here’s the plan for Sunday, August 19:

  1. Stinsons at 7:30 am start for a route and distance to be determined by those present.
  2. Tour de Bonnechere Eganville 8 am start
  3. MEC 8:45 am start

Ask yourself, where else would you rather be when the alarm rings on Sunday morning than on your bicycle pedalling away the fatty bits? You know you’ll just want to be there.
