July 22/18: 76.6 Kms; 2 Hrs, 22; 469 Metres; Five Riders

Hello –

Rain, what rain. Wind, yes – a heavy easterly that would have been perfect for us to ride to Carp to have coffee with Alice. Regrettably, we rode within an 18 km ‘spoke’ radius of Arnprior to allow for a hasty retreat in the event of rain. But, as I wrote above, there was no rain. There was the hint of rain, like the serendipitous encounter between two strangers whose eyes meet with casual meaning but ultimately falls short of expectations.

Still, it was a great ride. Aren’t they all great? Thanks to everyone for making the effort to get out of bed for a 7 am start. It was worth it, I think. The wind certainly made for a hard slog at times but once we turned the corner at Kinburn it was easy pedalling. You know, you just should have been there as we booted it along Logger’s Way, the Galetta Side Rd, and Old Hwy 17. What a blast as we each took turns at the throttle, with Joe and CAM making the most of their opportunity to exceed the speed limit. Hang on because it doesn’t get better than this!
