July 14/18: 83 Kms; 3 Hrs; 1544 Metres; Seven Riders

Hello –

Well, we missed the rain in the Gatineau, again. Yes, the road was wet when we left P3, allowing for rooster-tails of water off the back wheel; but, it didn’t last long. The warm, humid air dried the road with each lap ridden and we had no issues descending the Fortune Cork Screw.

It was a lovely morning ride, if you’re prepared to overlook the gut wrenching first loop, which almost did me in. I was just a few pedal strokes shy of upchucking. I red-lined three-quarters of the way up Blacks; but I recovered well for the second and third loops. In fact, everyone rode well, with Blair setting the standard for the rest of us to emulate.

The only issue arising was that CAM felt we should have done a forth lap. This, upon her arriving back at P3 with energy left in the tank. Still, she agreed (with some enthusiasm) it was a terrific cycle with a super group of lads. Now, that’s a compliment we don’t hear much. You know, you just should have been there.

Okay, here’s the plan for Sunday:

Meet at Stinsons on White Lake Rd for a 7:00 am 7:00 am start and ride to Quyon with a stop at Pinelodge in Bristol for alfresco breakfast. Route via Campbell Dr, Braeloch, River Rd, etc., as per usual. Home via Quyon Ferry and Fitzroy Harbour. Total distance 105 Kms and 630 Metres.

  • Bring $$ for BF and $3.00 for the Ferry

Ask yourself, where else would you rather be when the alarm rings on Sunday morning than on your bicycle pedalling away the fatty bits? You know you’ll just want to be there.

Caveat: Route is tentative and is depends upon rider consensus, the turnout, and wind direction.

For those with time constraints, there are many options to cut it short. Don’t miss out, just because the route is longer than you have time for. Weather:  21C – 29 C; Mainly sunny; winds NE 15.
