Hello. The good weather continues. Well, it continues into Saturday. We will have lovely weather for cycling. Fingers crossed for the TdB which we’ll discuss on Saturday. Meantime, you don’t want to miss this opportunity to ride a pleasant route, at a sensible pace, for a moderate distance. This is your chance to join us. I can promise no shenanigans.

In case you were wondering, the reference above has nothing really – I mean nothing, really – with Mt Lochte.

Here’s the tentative plan for Saturday, assuming wind is from the south-east:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Almonte via White lake Rd, Conc 10, Waba Rd, Pakenham Village and the Five Arches bridge, Blakeney Rd, Martin St for coffee at Equator Cafe; home via March Rd, Burnt Lands, Vances Side Rd, Dwyer Hill, etc. for a total distance of (wild guess) 70 kilometres.

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons on White Lake Rd 7:30 am, sharp departure.

Temperature will be in the mid twenties; wind SE at 15. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that?

As for the ride, this is a flat ride, for the most part; we’ll ride the hills of Foymont and Brudenell on Sunday. On Saturday, the pace will be down market to save the legs for Sunday’s climbing. Hope you agree with this strategy. Coffee after 35 kilometres, I think. As usual, it’s steady as she goes, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow.

Alert: Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.

There’s the wonderful love of a beautiful maid,
And the love of a staunch true man,
And the love of a baby that’s unafraid-
All have existed since time began.

But the most wonderful love, the Love of all loves,
Even greater than the love for Mother,
Is the infinite, tenderest, passionate love
Of one dead drunk for another.    anon
