International affairs are out of control. Disparity reigns. The haves’ have. The believers’ are unbelievable. And, I ride my bicycle as if the troubles are a world away.

Well, hello there. I’m languid from the heat and humidity. As a consequence, this post is late; and, I have only distant thoughts of cycling just now –  with the emphasis in that sentence on distance. That’s the plan for Saturday.

Here’s the tentative plan, assuming winds are from the north-west:

Meet at Stinsons at 7:30 am 7:30 am and ride to Calabogie and Renfrew via Russett Dr to Burnstown to #32/Norton Rd to #132 to Renfrew for coffee at the Bonnechere Cafe; home via Lochwinnow, etc. for a total distance of 100 kms+-.

NOTE the Venue and Time: Stinsons on White Lake Rd 7:30 am, sharp departure.

Temperature will be in the mid to high twenties; wind north-west at 20. Who wouldn’t want to ride in that?

As for the ride, this one requires a steady pace because there’s lots of climbing. That means steady as she goes, with minimal delays on the road. Bring gels, bars, water, electrolytes, etc. Liquids will be a key element tomorrow. It’s going to be HOT. The coffee stop is at kilometre 70 approx.

As for the cyclists, there are three or four or more riding the Grandfono on Saturday. This will deplete our ranks, somewhat. still, I hope to see several of you at Stinsons just the same.

Alert: Important information: These are ‘no-drop’ group rides. It’s steady as she goes (conversational style), except for the hills where it’s every man for himself. Regroup at the top. Honest effort required by all. New cyclists welcome.
