April 30/16: 93 kms; 3 Hrs 30; 594 Metres; Eight Riders

I don’t know about you but the sight of Blair this morning (at Cdn Tyre) with his turtleneck pulled up over his face gave me the shivers. My own hands were cold at the time and I thought uh-oh this isn’t going to be fun. Fortunately, as the sun rose higher so did the temperature. I think we warmed up by coffee time at Starbucks. In the end, it was delightful in a perversely cool way. Certainly the ride home on 2nd Line and Stonecrest was the highlight. I could do endless circuits on that road (out and back). It has enough interest, and ups-and-downs aplenty, and ample curves to delight a grown man on a bicycle. You know you just should have been there!

A big thank you to everyone for your high spirits and cooperation. I know the mileage was short of the Post. We’ll make up for it next weekend.

It was nice to see Alex; and what a big surprise to see Rob and Blair, both having ridden in from Kanata at an ungodly hour. I suppose the hour wasn’t so ungodly as the temperature when they saddled-up.

Well, Sunday’s ride is in doubt as I write this, with rain forecast for most of the day. That, and given the high POP (70 – 90%) and low single digits, I’d say we’ll take a pass on a group ride. If you can get a ride in, go for it. For myself, I’m opting for breakfast at a local diner.

Fingers crossed for next weekend. The plan for next Saturday is Quyon – an honest 100 kms. Ride during the week, if you can.
