August 02/15: 89 Kms; 2.56 Hrs; 461 Metres; Seven Riders.

Our world is beautiful. I mean that in the narrow sense of our world, our life, our lives. As WBY wrote,

We must laugh and we must sing,
We are blest by everything,
Everything we look upon is blessed

That, coupled with amiable companions this morning, made for a most pleasant outing. The SW wind was really no bother, as we chose a route that avoided its worst aspects head-on. In this regard, one must be flexible. My original intention was for a meandering route to get mileage but to keep us from having to cross highway 17. Totally uninspiring, I admit; but there were limited options, or so I thought, until Joe suggested riding to Almonte. Would the wind be an issue, I wondered? No, it proved otherwise; and it actually made for a most thrilling ride as we rode like the billy-oh, the roller coaster of Wolf Grove Road towards Almonte –  where we arrived all smiles and in full spirits ready for coffee at the Palms. It really was an exhilarating, fun ride. Never disappoints. You just should have been there.

So, a big thanks to Joe (Fresh) for speaking up. Speaking of which, have you really seen anyone enjoy cycling as much as Joe. It’s a delight to see his pleasure and his enthusiasm for cycling. He’s just a big kid and he would be head-on, full gas all the time if he had the free reign. He reminds me of Mark, back in the day, who was always pushing to do just another twenty kilometres. Well done, JF.

Well, there you have it. Two solid days on the bike. And, it’s August already! We have the TdB in a couple of weeks and then the MEC, the following week. The plan is to ride Pucker and #132 next Saturday for approx 110 Kms and upwards of 750 metres of climbing(?). This should be ample training for the hills of Brudenell. Don’t miss this ride. Fingers crossed for good weather and favourable winds.
