June 29/14: Seven Riders; 93 Kms (Mark and HC); 3 Hrs 04; 300 Metres; TFWnd 202 Kms.

Hello, and welcome to this post.

Glorious it is; and thank-full, we must be.

That was not a morning to tarry with so much delight awaiting the wakening eye. The country-side is a bloom and what better way to see it than on a bicycle – beautiful,  simple, elegant, efficient. It’s a pity so many in the Valley hold it and its riders in contempt. What’s to be done but to ride and encourage others to ride. The joy of riding a bicycle doesn’t end with one’s youth, don’t you know.

That’s what we did this morning. We rode in full blaze towards coffee in Almonte. Well, the big lads did. Mark and I did our best to hang in there; and we did to a point. But in the end, younger and stronger legs led the way, as we fell off the train on Clayton Side Road. But, we did arrive at Equator Coffee ahead of them, thanks to Rob, who pulled us yeoman-like, up to Tatlock Rd and down Wolf Grove. The others had chosen to add a few extra kilometres to the ride on Concession Eight by following Perry’s lead.

All told, I think they were closer to the posted distance of 97-100 kms in about three hours. A good time was had by all, not the least of which was the time spent at our rest stop where we enjoyed a tasty Americano and scone.

As for the ride home on Martin and Blakeney Rds and later on Dwyer Hill, this was summer riding at its best. You just should have been there. Hope you can join us soon.

On that point, the ride tomorrow is scheduled for 9 am from Stinsons on White Lake Rd to Concession 8 to Waba, White Lake, Kippen Rd, Creekside, Burnstown for coffee at the Neat Cafe; home on #508 to Russett; Distance 50 Kms or so; Pace (small chain ring only unless you are turning a compact) Slow mo.

All this dependent upon the weather. The forecast is looking fine just now. If  in doubt email arnpriorcycling@bell.net in the morning to confirm the ride is on. Some of the lads have the day off others are at work. Not sure who is about.

Bye Bye, ac. Comments welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net; http://www.twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling
