Okay. Hello to all cyclists in the area. You are welcome to join us tomorrow for a great Fall ride to Carp. Our plan is to visit Alice for coffee, after about 52 kms into the ride. Join us why don’t you. You’ll be talking about it all next week. It’s just that much fun.

Okay, here are the details:

Stinsons at 8 am 8 am; Route to Carp via Pakenham and Blakeney, Panmure and Donald B Munroe; Home via Carp Road and Galetta; Distance 95 kms. East wind 12 kms/hr; Temperature 10 C. Riding conditions–almost perfect. Where else would you rather be? Hope to see many cyclists in the morning. Will you be one of them? Some lads are away visiting family, etc. Don’t miss this ride. Sights along the way: Blakeney Rapids (lovely); Panmure hill grind (fun); Alice’s coffee and biscuits (yummy); Tail wind anticipated on county rd 5 (explosive). It doesn’t get much better than this. Also, how many Fall rides are left?

Okay. Bye bye. AC. Comments always welcome at arnpriorcycling@bell.net; Twitter at www.twitter.com/ArnpriorCycling

Something told the wild geese

Something told the wild geese
It was time to go;
Though the fields lay golden
Something whispered, – ‘snow’.
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries, luster-glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
Something cautioned, – ‘frost’.

All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spice,
But each wild breast stiffened
At remembered ice.

Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly –
Summer sun was on their wings,
Winter in their cry.  (Rachel Lyman Field)
